PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporative cooling device capable of reducing the amount of cooling water. SOLUTION: A cooling fluid supply pipe 5 and a steam supply pipe 8 are connected to a jacket portion 2 of a reaction vessel 1. A combination vacuum pump 4 is connected to a lower portion of the jacket portion 2 through an ejector 10. The combination vacuum pump 4 is composed of a three-way switch valve 29, a circulation pump 14, a cooling water tank 13 and a heat pump 3, and a circulation pump 24, a hot water tank 25 and the heat pump 3. In cooling the reaction vessel 1, the cooling fluid is supplied from the cooling fluid supply pipe 5 into the jacket portion 2, so that the cooling fluid vaporizes and draws heat from the reaction vessel 1, and the reaction vessel 1 can be evaporation-cooled.
