PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel capable of maintaining bearing performance over a long period, by improving sealability of a seal. SOLUTION: A backup seal 13 is installed in an end part on the outer side of an outer member 3. The backup seal 13 is composed of cylindrical core metal 14 pressed in the end part outer periphery of the outer member 3 and a seal member 15 integrally vulcanized and adhered to the core metal 14. The seal member 15 has a side lip 15b slantingly extending outside in the radial direction, formed in a trumpet shape of diametrically expanding a tip part and slidingly contacted with a side surface 6c on the inner side of a wheel installing flange 6. Since a base part 15a of this side lip 15b is fixed so as to cover an end part on the inner side of the core metal 14, even if the wheel installing flange 6 and the outer member 3 are a closely adjacent structure, a space of the seal member 15 can be sufficiently secured, and the bearing device can be optimally designed to provide the side lip 15b with appropriate contact pressure.
