PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device that can operate, even during a power failure, such as when a disaster occurs by reducing the amount of usage of electric power of an AC power source, reducing the amount of CO<SB>2</SB>emission and suppressing global warming, and to provide a vending machine provided with the device. SOLUTION: A control box 6 houses a battery 3, a controller 4 and an inverter 5. The battery 3 is charged by power generated by a solar panel 2 and feeds the charged power to the vending machine 100. The controller 4 monitors the amount of the battery 3 charged and presence/no presence of power feeding from the AC power source, and switches the power source for driving the vending machine 100 between the battery 3 and the AC power source. The inverter 5 performs conversion from direct current to alternating current, when the battery 3 feeds the power to the vending machine 100. Electric power from the solar panel 2, the battery 3 and the AC power source is received by the controller 4 in parallel respectively, and the output of the controller 4 is input to the vending machine 100 via the inverter 5.
