PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the relative position of a body screed and an extension screed to be controlled not only in the vertical direction but also in the longitudinal direction so as to almost completely eliminate the step between an asphalt-paved surface on which asphalt is placed and spread by the body screed, and an asphalt-paved one on which the asphalt is placed and spread by the extension screed. SOLUTION: This extension screed 20 of the road paving machine is connected in the lateral direction of the body screed 9 so as to extend the breadth of a pavement, and equipped with a mechanism 40 for preventing the extension screed from coming off the body screed 9. The extension screed 20 is equipped with a first positioning mechanism 30 capable of vertically adjusting the relative positions of the body screed 9 and the extension screed 20 in the connection of the extension screed 20.
