APPARATUS FOR DETECTING DEFECTS OF SIDE SURFACE OF SLAB

A slab side crack detecting apparatus is provided to lower failure rate by improving detection accuracy and to detect the side crack of a moving slab automatically. A slab side crack detecting apparatus comprises: a light source(110) irradiating the light to the side of a slab(10); a CCD camera(120) arranged in the side of the slab; and an image processor(130) detecting the crack generated in the slab side from the image obtained from the CCD camera. The CCD camera photographs the side of the slab in which the light is irradiated and supplies the photographed image. The CCD camera is a line CCD camera. The light source is a DC light source irradiating fixed light according to the time. The light source is symmetrically arranged around the CCD camera. The light source comprises two lighting fixture irradiating the light.
