A direct type backlight device is provided to make light emitted from a side of a lamp toward an upper surface by a dispersing member surrounding the lamp, thereby making emitted light distribution of the upper surface uniform. A reflecting plate(112) is mounted on a cover bottom(111). A plurality of lamps(113) is arranged on the reflecting plate. A dispersing member(120) surrounds the lamps to convert side light of the lamp into effective light. A dispersing plate(114) is positioned on the dispersing member. Optical sheets(115,116) are positioned on the dispersing plate. |
