The generator has a converting device (7) for conversion of flow energy of wind into usable energy, which is received from a tower, where the generator is used for transmission of the energy to a point of consumption. A wind wheel (10) of the converting device has a rotor with rotor blades (2) coupled to a rotor shaft (9). A length of the rotor blades is adjustable, and a tower (1) e.g. strut support is lengthwise adjustable. The rotor blades are telescopically adjustable to one another. The device has a horizontal axis rotor and a vertical axis rotor e.g. savonius rotor and darrieus rotor.
