PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of preventing a drive motor for rotationally driving a photoreceptor drum from being rotated in such a state that the torque of the driving motor drastically exceeds rated torque. SOLUTION: The drive current of a DC motor 33 for rotationally driving the photoreceptor drum is detected and the value of the detected drive current is displayed on a display section 32. The drive current displayed on the display section 32 is confirmed and when the value of the drive current is too large, the drive of the DC motor 33 can be stopped. When the value of the detected drive current exceeds a prescribed value, the drive of the DC motor 33 is automatically stopped by a control section 30. Thus, the DC motor 33 can be prevented from rotating in such a state that the torque of the DC motor 33 drastically exceeds the rated torque. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
