PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit of an electromagnetic induction heating system and an image forming apparatus in which an effect of suppressing electromagnetic induction heating of the heating member by an exciting coil or an effect of promoting the electromagnetic induction heating in the heating member by the exciting coil can be controlled. SOLUTION: The fixing unit is provided with the exciting coil which is arranged along the heating member for carrying out electromagnetic induction heating of the heating member by generating an alternating magnetic flux, a sub-induction coil for generating the alternating magnetic flux by going around one part of the alternating magnetic flux which is generated by the exciting coil and an electrostatic capacity switching means for switching the generating direction of the alternating magnetic flux of the sub-induction coil.
