PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch the output from low resolution broadcast to high resolution broadcast without delaying output of a high resolution broadcast such that comprehension of the content of a program by a viewer is not affected as much as possible. SOLUTION: A digital broadcast receiver includes a first receiving means 4 for receiving a high resolution digital broadcast, a second receiving means 5 for receiving a low resolution digital broadcast, a switching means 6 for switching the first receiving means 4 and the second receiving means 5 automatically according to the state of radio wave when the first receiving means 4 and the second receiving means 5 are receiving a simultaneous broadcast, and a switching control means 8 for controlling the switching means 6 to perform switching from the second receiving means 5 to the first receiving means 4 at such a timing as the closed caption of a broadcast received by the first receiving means 4 and the second receiving means 5, respectively, is not displayed.
