<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter assembly including a catheter having a coating which is intended to impart a low frictional surface on the catheter when being treated with an active substance under a vapor form at least at a part of the length of the catheter. <P>SOLUTION: This catheter assembly 20 includes a catheter package 24 which forms an internal space being divided into a first cavity 26a and a second cavity 26b by a gas-permeable and liquid-impermeable barrier 28. The first cavity of the catheter package houses the catheter 22 inside, and the second cavity houses at least a specified amount of a liquid in the liquid phase inside. The liquid in the second cavity can be phase-changed into a vapor which can enter the first cavity from the second cavity through the barrier, and the vapor can activate the coating. With the vapor which is generated when the liquid has been phase-changed, the coating of the catheter is activated, and thus, the low frictional surface is imparted to the catheter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
