The method involves generating positioning data (6) of a target path (7) for a selected road section outside a vehicle (3). The positioning data is communicated by vehicle over radio communication. The target path is dynamically adjusted according to current traffic condition in a side lane (1). Correction data (8) is generated at a corrector using the positioning data determined by a global positioning system, and is transferred to the vehicle. Actual position of the vehicle is compared with the target path using a control unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for guiding a vehicle along a selected target path.
