The method involves determining a measured value for an exhaust counter-pressure, and determining a modeled value for the exhaust counter-pressure. The measured value is compared with the modeled value. The supplied amount of air to a combustion chamber (5) of an internal-combustion engine (1) is adjusted based on the result of comparison until the measured value is adjusted to the modeled value, where the supplied amount of air is changed by changing an opening degree of a butterfly valve (10).
