The protector has a front part (1) and a rear part (2), which are connected indirectly or directly with one another in a usage position. The parts are connected directly or indirectly relative to each other in two different positions such that two different geometry of the protector is realizable. A connecting unit (3) connects the parts and enables blocking of the selected relative positions of the parts for using the protector. The connecting unit has a retaining unit and a pair of fixing parts (6, 7).
