The method involves exposing a portion of a surface of a flow of a sieve (1) with a suspension (17) to light, and recording images of the illuminated surface. Movement of glittered and/or reflected image points of the illuminated surface is evaluated for determining the flow of the suspension. A recording time of the image of the illuminated surface is selected between 1/1000 seconds and 1/20 seconds. A flow vector is determined from a representation of the movement of one of the image points. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining flow of a fiber and fluid suspension on a moving sieve of a paper machine.
