The method involves controlling a pre-supply pump (3) based on an operating temperature and an actual fuel pressure of an internal-combustion engine (42), during operation of the internal-combustion engine in a stop phase, to enable accelerated starting of the internal-combustion engine in a subsequent starting phase. The pre-supply pump is disconnected during the stop phase, when an actual fuel pressure exceeds a predetermined upper pressure threshold value. The pre-supply pump is cyclically switched on when the operating temperature exceeds a preset temperature threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a computer program for executing a method for controlling a fuel injection system of an internal-combustion engine with a start-stop operation.
