PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant cultivation structure obtained by forming a soil-dressing layer (planting layer) directly on a backing, provided with a hard and favorable windproofing means and also established at inexpensive cost price. SOLUTION: The plant cultivation structure is formed on the rooftop, roof or the like of a building, and includes a waterproofing layer formed on the backing, a rootproofing layer formed on the waterproofing layer in order to prevent plant roots from breaking out into the waterproofing layer, a protection sheet formed on the rootproofing layer, a planting layer disposed on the protection sheet, and a fixing means to fix the planting layer to the backing, wherein the protection sheet and the fixing means are engaged with each other via slits formed at the protection sheet.
