The method involves thermally coupling a Peltier-element (4) with a solar cell (2). The solar cell is cooled and/or heated by the Peltier-element. Temperature of the solar cell or a region of the solar cell is determined by a temperature sensor, where the solar cell is attached with a good heat conducting holding element (3). A ventilator is operated when an optimal operating temperature of the solar cell increases an upper marginal temperature. The holding element is formed from an aluminum plate. An independent claim is also included for a photovoltaic system with a Peltier-element and a solar cell.
