PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw fluid machine capable of reducing thrust load of a rotor shaft and eliminating the increase of rotation load by a balance piston and the risk of seal leakage of the balance piston. SOLUTION: A screw compressor 1 includes a pair of male and female screw rotors 3 rotatably held engaged with each other in a casing 2 to suck, compress and discharge a fluid; a main thrust bearing 11 with an inner ring fixed to the rotor shaft 6 which is one rotating shaft of a screw rotor and with an outer ring fixed to the casing 2 to receive the thrust force of the rotor shaft 6; a balance bearing 12 with an inner ring fixed to the rotor shaft 6 and with an outer ring movable relative to the casing 2; a bearing holding member 13 holding the outer ring of the balance bearing 12; and fluid pressure applying means 14, 19 pressing the bearing holding member 13 to the discharge side by fluid pressure.
