The present invention is related to a system and method for controlling the speed and RPM in engine vehicles, which includes a programmable device (microcontroller, microprocessor or the like) for interpreting different types of signals emitted by electric or electronic devices adapted or integrated to any engine vehicle in order to establish an allowed speed limit, wherein the operator may not increase the speed and/or the RPM of the vehicle. The present invention is formed by two stages, in the first step the system informs that the maximum programmed speed and/or RPM is being reached, while in the second step the system reduces the speed and or RPM of the vehicle by cutting the connexion of the fuel pump or the electronic accelerator, the connexion being re-established by reducing the speed and/or RPM of the vehicle without being turned off the engine of the unit.
