<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that can be restricted in use without performing complicated authentication operation, and an image projection system. <P>SOLUTION: When power is supplied to the projector 2 from a commercial power source, a control section 20 reads a registered ID from a storage part 21 and outputs an authentication request with the registered ID to a server from a network communication part 27. When authentication is established, the control section 20 instructs a power circuit 25 to start supply of operating power to shift the projector 2 into a power-on state, and further instructs a light source control section 26 to light a light source 11. As a result, an image (an input image) corresponding to image information input from an image input part 23 or the network communication part 27 is projected from an image projecting part 10.
