PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe mosquito catcher requiring less consumables and is hence usable at low cost. SOLUTION: The mosquito catcher is constituted of a gaseous carbon dioxide generator, consisting of titanium oxide (2) and an ultraviolet generator (3) for irradiating the titanium oxide with ultraviolet light, infrared generators (4 and 4), gas-permeable bodies (11 and 11), and an air suction apparatus (20). When a prescribed time has elapsed from the start-up of the gaseous carbon dioxide generator and the infrared generators, it is assumed that mosquitoes present in the vicinity are attracted by the gaseous carbon dioxide, the infrared light, or the like, and perch on the gas-permeable bodies (11 and 11). In this way, the air suction apparatus is operated. The mosquitoes perched on the gas-permeable bodies are captured in an insect-capturing net (22), with an air current sucked by the air suction apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
