PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flush toilet bowl which prevents degradation of siphonage, and is proof against remaining of floating human waste in standing water. SOLUTION: The flush toilet bowl 1 has: a bowl section 14 formed of a filth receiving surface 22, a rim 24 formed on an upper edge of the bowl section, and a rack portion 26 formed between the rim and the filth receiving surface; a spouting section 32 which spouts flushing water onto the rack portion of the bowl section from a swirling current such that a spouting direction is directed frontward of the toilet bowl; and a drain trap pipe line 20 which has an inlet thereof connected to a lower portion of the bowl section, for discharging the human waste. Herein the flush toilet bowl has a recess 28 formed at a location above a retained water level of the filth receiving surface of the bowl section, and an upper edge of the recess is formed like an almost rectangular shape whose longitudinal direction extends along the spouting direction of the flushing water spouted from the spouting section.
