PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of emitting wavelength-converted light efficiently, and to provide a lighting device, a monitor device and image display device using the light source device. SOLUTION: The light source device has a semiconductor element 11 as a light source unit emitting light having a first wavelength, a SHG (Second-Harmonic Generation) element 12 as a wavelength converting element converting the light with the first wavelength emitted by the light source unit into light having a second wavelength different from the first wavelength, a first reflection structure and a second reflection structure that resonate the light having the first wavelength by reflecting the light having the first wavelength, and a wavelength selection mechanism which select the wavelength of the light to be resonated by the first reflection structure and second reflection structure. The first reflection mechanism is provided to the light source unit, the second reflection structure and wavelength selection mechanism are structured in one body, and a volume hologram functions as the second reflection mechanism and wavelength selection structure.
