The catheter has a catheter holder (3) holding a plastic catheter (8) that protrudes from an end of the holder. A valve body (5) locks a central axial channel (16) penetrating the plastic catheter. A luer cone attaches a luer cone adapter (14) or luer cone connection (13) to connect an infusion tube (12) with the venous catheter. A hollow mandrel (15) is arranged such that the mandrel is moved inwardly during attaching the adapter or the connection to the cone by the body, and is moved backwardly during removing the adapter or the connection from the body. The mandrel extends from the adapter.
