The household appliance has a liquid distribution device for adjusting the distribution of liquid within the household appliance. A detection device is provided for detecting a dependent condition of the liquid from the distribution of liquid. The detection device has a liquid level sensor arranged on the suction side of a circulation pump (6). The liquid level sensor measures the liquid level of a container at the ground area. The detection device has two flow sensors (30,32) for liquid flow. An independent claim is included for a method for detecting the function of an adjustable liquid distribution device.
