摘要 The invention relates to railway transport, particularly to brake equipment and also can be used in other modes of transport in brake systems. A brake block for high-speed railway rolling stock incorporates a carcass with mounting ledges arranged at the block rear edges, a boss with a central bore designed for fastening inside a shoe. The carcass rear is coated with a steel plate. There are chambers filled with friction elements arranged on the working surface side. The said steel plate represents a plate-like section spring with the ledges fitted under the shoe points of bearing. There is a corrugated fluoroplastic heat-resistant lining arranged between the steel plate and the carcass. The plate-like spring and the fluoroplastic lining are furnished with cuts made opposite the carcass mounting ledges and the boss hole. The aforesaid chambers are divided by the partitions into the cells filled with the friction elements. The chambers, the cells and the appropriate friction elements represent the truncated pyramids or the cones with their smaller base turned towards the carcass working surface and with the lateral walls inclined at the angle α =10-15° to form a fixed dovetail joint. The carcass side surfaces include two openings arranged on both sides opposite the chambers. The chambers, the cells and the appropriate friction elements have a form selected from: the truncated cone with the base in the form of a circle or an ellipse; the truncated pyramid with 3-6 lateral walls with the base in the form of a triangle, a quadrangle, a pentagon and a hexagon. The friction elements are laid into a casting mold and are poured by liquid metal. The carcass of the block and the partitions are made prefabricated and welded, the filler is put into the obtained chambers and cells. The filler is moulded and cemented getting the friction inserts. The filler becomes firm because of a chemical reaction. The brake block is made from materials working at a temperature to 1000°C. The friction material having abrasivity more than abrasivity of the carcass and the partitions is used for the friction elements. The total area of the friction surface of the friction elements is 85-95% from the whole working surface of the block. The friction elements at the side surface have the ledges corresponding to the openings of the carcass side surface. The construction of the proposed block provides elastic hanging the block in the block shoe, smooth interaction between the block and the conjugate working surface of the wheel, that improves its operating ability. Vibrations causing destruction of a body of the block and the friction elements are eliminated, that provides high reliability of the brakes, and noise when using the brakes is decreased. The construction provides reliability of fastening the friction elements in the body of the block because the dovetail joint and the friction elements in the form of the truncated cones and the pyramids with their smaller base turned towards the block working surface are used. That also increases reliability of functioning the brakes, because the area of the friction elements is increased against the whole working surface of the block while abrading the brakes.
