A method, device and arrangement for the verification of a signal input to the electronic taximeter 1 of a vehicle as supplied by a distance pulse sensor 2 by comparison with the vehicles velocity and acceleration as provided by an external accelerometer. Such verification is performed by the taximeter's microcontroller 4 in conjunction with its internal clock 5 and may be used to detect and prevent falsification of the distance pulse signal and also to detect malfunction of the distance pulse sensor; either of these conditions may be subsequently acted upon by the taximeter's microcontroller. A malfunction of the distance pulse sensor 2 may be as a result of fraudulent activity and so upon detection of said malfunction, a visible or audible alarm may be raised, and/or the taximeter may function with limited functionality. |
