PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lead storage battery having an exhaust structure that prevents a gas discharge function from being deteriorated. SOLUTION: The lead storage battery is composed of: a battery case 2 for storing a plurality of cells; an intermediate lid 3, which covers the upper face of the battery case 2 and is formed with an intermediate-lid gas passage 30 on its surface; an upper lid 4, which covers the intermediate-lid gas passage 30 and is formed with an upper-lid gas passage 40 on its surface; and an upper-lid cover 5 that covers the upper-lid gas passage 40. The intermediate-lid gas passage 40 has: a gas concentration chamber 31, which allows gas discharged from each cell to be concentrated thereinto; and an intermediate-lid gas guide chamber 32 that guides the concentrated gas to the upper-lid gas passage 40. The upper-lid gas passage 40 has: an upper-lid gas guide chamber 41, which guides gas in the intermediate-lid gas guide chamber 32 to the outside of the battery; and an exhaust chamber 42 that discharges the guided gas to the outside of the battery. The intermediate-lid gas guide chamber 32 has: a valve cylinder part 32c; and an intermediate-lid gas guide path 32a arranged with a liquid-absorbing member 32b.
