<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring method and apparatus that enable a calculation of the distance from a target object with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The distance from a target object can be accurately measured with use of low-frequency optical pulses and clock pulses by counting the number of clock pulses between radiation of an optical pulse and reception of the optical pulse thus radiated, counting the number of clock pulses between the reception of the optical pulse and superimposition of the optical pulse onto a clock pulse, and calculating the distance from the target object with use of the number of clock pulses thus counted, whereby reductions in both cost and power consumption can be achieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
