The method involves placing core plates between lower and upper films of a high barrier film, so that a lateral distance of 5 millimeter remains at all places of the plates. An arrangement is evacuated over lateral openings in a vacuum chamber. The openings are closed by a sealing device. The evacuated arrangement is heated to a temperature after ventilation of the chamber, so that sealing layers merge film sides with each other. Individual vacuum insulation plates are cut out from a bag after cooling down the film sides such that seal-edge width of 2 millimeter remains about the plates. An independent claim is also included for a vacuum insulation body comprising a casing foil surrounded by a continuous sealing.
