PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface acoustic wave apparatus using a surface acoustic wave element in a spherical state, capable of rapidly attaching and detaching the spherical surface acoustic wave element even if the spherical surface acoustic wave element is small in diameter and capable of easily aligning the spherical surface acoustic wave element with a predetermined position to certainly hold the same. SOLUTION: The spherical surface acoustic wave element is constituted so as to hold the spherical surface acoustic wave element by a sensor holder and the sensor holder has a receiving tray for holding the spherical surface acoustic wave element. The surface acoustic wave apparatus, having an opening which exposes the spherical surface acoustic wave element, permits the insertion of an insertion tool and is formed so as to be brought into contact with the exposed spherical surface acoustic wave element, is used in the receiving tray of the sensor holder.
