Gripping device comprises gripping plates (1) arranged an axial distance apart, gripping wedges (2) extending in an axial direction which are movably positioned in a radial direction on a first side (21, 23) on the gripping plates and have on a second side (22) a contact surface acting on the pipe ends, a guide (4) guiding the gripping wedges on the gripping plates, and an operating device moving the gripping wedges. The guide is provided with an elastic holding device for holding the gripping wedges on the gripping plates. An Independent claim is also included for a gripping device assembly comprising exchangeable gripping wedges. Preferred Features: The gripping wedges are made of a copper/chromium/nickel alloy or high-grade steel. |
