PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bisbenzoazole compound emitting strong fluorescence. SOLUTION: The bisbenzoazole compound is represented by general formula (I) and general formula (II). In general formula (I), R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>7</SB>are each a hydrogen atom or an unsubstituted alkyl group; l is an integer of 1-4; a is 1; X<SB>1</SB>and X<SB>2</SB>are each an alkoxy group or a diarylamino group and the diarylamino group may be further substituted with a methyl group; when l is 3, at least one of R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>7</SB>is an unsubstituted alkyl group; and Z<SB>1</SB>and Z<SB>2</SB>are each an oxygen atom. In general formula (II), R<SB>8</SB>-R<SB>14</SB>are each a hydrogen atom or an unsubstituted alkyl group; m is an integer of 1-4; b is 1; Y<SB>1</SB>and Y<SB>2</SB>are each a dialkylamino group or a diarylamino group and the diarylamino group may be further substituted with a methyl group; and Z<SB>3</SB>and Z<SB>4</SB>are each an oxygen atom.
