<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously cast aluminum alloy rod with excellent quality by preventing defects of a casting surface or generation of breakout in horizontal continuous casting. <P>SOLUTION: The continuously cast aluminum alloy rod 101 is produced through a horizontal continuous casting method employing a tubular mold 201 which is supported such that its center axis is substantially horizontal and which has a forced cooling device 203. The rod includes a Si-rich structure portion 104 having a thickness of at least 20μm on a surface of a lateral side of the rod that has a central angle of at least 30 degrees, and includes at least 0.003 mass% of Ca and 7-14 mass% of Si. The Si-rich structure portion 104 is an Si fine structure containingα-Al303 primary phase whose area ratio is less than 50% in elements distribution at a cross-section in the radial direction, and the average grain size of Si grains included in the Si fine structure is 0.1-5μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
