A number plate assembly for a vehicle registration is provided that is arranged to destroy a registration code 5 if the assembly is removed from the vehicle. The assembly includes a dividable element for displaying the registration code 5, fixing means, e.g. adhesive, for fixing the number plate 1 to a vehicle 17, and a guard device. The dividable element includes a separable portion 13 that is arranged to deface the registration when separated. The guard device forms a surround around the number plate 23, 25 for restricting access to the fixing means such that the number plate cannot be prised or otherwise forced from the vehicle by tampering with the fixing means. The guard device is malleable such that it is bendable to form a substantially fixed curved shape. |
