A cured object which contains organic fibers having an imparted shape enabling excellent physical adhesion to the cured object and which therefore is highly inhibited from suffering crack widening, fragment shedding, or excessive deformation. The organic fibers are obtained from ones which, even after incorporation in a hydraulically cured object, e.g., cement concrete, mortar, or slate, or in a cured polymer, e.g., a plastic (molded thermoset or thermoplastic resin) or rubber (tire, belt, hose, etc.), are easily pulled out thereof like melt-spun organic fibers having a circular section, by processing the organic fibers by a simple, thermal or mechanical, inexpensive method to thereby impart the shape thereto. Also provided is a process for producing the cured object. The process comprises: a crushing step in which twisted yarns composed of organic fibers are crushed to obtain crushed twisted yarns; a compounding step in which the crushed twisted yarns are incorporated into an uncured material; and a curing step in which the uncured material having the crushed twisted yarns incorporated therein is cured. Twisted yarns composed of organic fibers made of a polyamide, polyester, polyvinyl alcohol, polyolefin, etc. are crushed to shape the fibers constituting the twisted yarns so that the sectional shape changes in the lengthwise direction. The resultant fibers as reinforcing fibers are mixed with or embedded in an object to be cured. |
