PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing coated paper for offset printing in which a rod metering size press type coating apparatus is used and by which operation efficiency causing problems in a production process of coating the top surface of base paper with a coating liquid under high-speed conditions is improved with excellent quality and to provide the coated paper. SOLUTION: The method for producing the coated paper by which the top surface of the base paper is coated with the coating liquid containing a pigment and an adhesive and dried to form one or more coating layers is provided. In the method for producing the coated paper, the papermaking speed and the coating speed are 1,300 m/min or more. The rod metering size press type coating apparatus equipped with a grooved rod having a groove width of the rod of 0.30 mm or less is used for base coating. Both surfaces are coated with a starch coating liquid at≥0.5 g/m<SP>2</SP>and coating with the coating liquid having the pigment and the adhesive is further carried out. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
