PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for suppressing accumulation of toner with time in a brush of a charging brush member. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises a photoreceptor 3 as an image carrier for carrying a latent image on a surface, a development apparatus 40 as a developing means for developing the latent image on the photoreceptor 3 with toner, and a charging brush roller 8 as a charging brush member in contact with the surface of the photoreceptor 3 to charge the surface. A printer having the image forming apparatus comprises an ultrasonic oscillator 7 as an oscillation applying means for applying oscillation, and a sheet 6 as a brush beating member for beating the brush of the charging brush roller 8 by applying oscillation from the ultrasonic oscillator 7.
