PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new measurement method effectively using an optical fiber characteristic that transmission spectra change as stress applied to a fusion extension region changes, and a sensor therefor. SOLUTION: Distortion is applied to a case 11 from the outside by a screw-thread mechanism 12, in which the optical fiber coupler is installed, and thereby, the stress applied to the fusion extension region 10a of the optical fiber coupler 10 is changed indirectly. This enables arbitrary adjustment transmission spectra of the optical fiber coupler, without the risk of breakage or fracture of the optical fiber coupler 10, and it is not necessary to select a wavelength suitable for sensing, and measurement can be performed with high accuracy with a fixed wavelength.
