PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a rotation phase of a camshaft for a crankshaft in a sufficiently short cycle even while low revolution. SOLUTION: The cam phase detecting device is provided with a first cam sensor for outputting a first cam angle signal at each time when the camshaft rotates by a unit angle, a second cam sensor for outputting a second cam angle signal as a cylinder discrimination signal, and a cam angle sensor as a sensor for outputting a unit crank angle signal for causing the unit crank angle signal to be lacked at a specific position. A reference crank angle position is detected based on a lacking position of the unit crank angle signal and the number of the first cam angle signals generated from a reference crank cam angle position based on the second cam angle signal is counted. The angle from the reference cam angle position to the first cam angle signal is reduced from the angle from the reference crank angle position to the first cam angle signal and the angle from the reference crank angle position to the reference cam angle position is calculated as the rotation phase.
