<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase processing speed by multiplexing plural signal lights and downsize an optical transmitter using current mode logic (CML) technology. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmitter 1 includes a plurality of light emitting modules 3A to 3D each having a laser diode 31 (LD 31) and a Peltier device 33, thermo-electric control (TEC) sections 17A to 17D for supplying Peltier currents Ip1 to Ip4 to the light emitting modules 3A to 3D, respectively, an optical wavelength multiplexer 7 for multiplexing signal lights L1 to L4 emitted from the light emitting modules 3A to 3D, an etalon filter 9, and a monitoring means 15 for detecting light intensity of each wavelength component contained in output light L6 of the etalon filter 9. The TEC sections 17A to 17D controls the Peltier currents Ip1 to Ip4 so that the respective temperatures of the LDs 31 may be close to temperatures set on both sides of extreme wavelengths of transmission change rates wherein a peak wavelength with an on strength and that with an off strength correspond to the related signal lights based on detection results at the monitoring means 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
