<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful glycoprotein having a human-type sugar chain. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing the glycoprotein having a human-type sugar chain is provided. The method includes a process for obtaining a transformed plant cell by introducing the gene of glycosyltransferase and the gene of an exogenous glycoprotein to the plant cell and a process for culturing the obtained transformed plant cell. The aforesaid glycosyltransferase can perform the transfer of a galactose residue to a non-reducing terminal acetylglucosamine residue. The glycoprotein having the human-type sugar chain includes a core sugar chain and an outer sugar chain, wherein the core sugar chain contains a plurality of mannose and acetylglucosamine residues and the outer sugar chain contains a terminal sugar chain portion having a non-reducing terminal galactose residue and has a straight chain configuration or a branched configuration. The aforesaid glycoprotein having the human-type sugar chain does not contain fucose or xylose, therefore it is not antigenic to Homo sapiens. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
