PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel-saving driving control system and control method for a vehicle, allowing optimum automatic fuel-saving driving control according to a road gradient as producing high-accuracy road gradient data in a runway having the road gradient. SOLUTION: This automatic fuel-saving driving system has one's own vehicle position detection means 1, an engine control means 2, an auxiliary brake control means 3, a vehicle speed detection means 4, an auxiliary brake operation confirmation means 5, a storage means 8, and an automatic fuel-saving driving control means 10. When traveling on the road without road information, the automatic fuel-saving driving control means 10 distinguishes the road during the travel into an area L1 of a downward slope, an area Lx just before the downward slope, and an area L2 that is not the downward slope or the area just before the downward slope by an operation state of the auxiliary brake, and they are stored in a storage means 8.
