PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating diabetes mellitus or other diseases of pancreas.

SOLUTION: A method for obtaining mammalian pancreas cells including a plurality of functionally matured β cells comprises a process for providing a group of precursor cells of the mammalian pancreas cells having at least one gastrin receptor ligand in a sufficient amount for achieving differentiation of the precursor cells of the mammalian pancreas cells, wherein the group of the precursor cells of the mammalian pancreas cells is enriched in cells expressing at least one marker relating to the precursor cells of the mammalian pancreas cells, and a process for obtaining the plurality of the functionally matured β cells by the same.
