PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for paper coating, which does not emit formaldehyde, has excellent storage stability at a low temperature and imparts high water resistance. SOLUTION: The resin composition for paper coating is obtained by reacting four or five components of polyamines, alicyclic dibasic carboxylic acids and/or a reaction product obtained by reacting glycols of 1 mol with the alicyclic dibasic carboxylic acids of >1 mol, ureas and a crosslinkable compound, and contains <1.5 wt.% of the total of compounds (I) and (II).
