PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a processing capable of effectively improving a tailing phenomenon without excessively thinning out pixels of image data. SOLUTION: An image area to carry out a pixel thinning-out processing is extracted from the image data, the signal level is reduced for pixels in the extracted image area by a predetermined ratio, and dots are added at positions apart from the end of the image area processed with a reduction in the signal level by a predetermined distance.
