The invention relates to a method for producing a bearing component (1), particularly a connecting rod (1) made of a molded part (2), wherein the bea ring component (1) comprises at least one divided bearing seat (5) formed by a bearing base (3) and a bearing cover (4), and a bearing seat surface (7) coated with a bearing coating material is configured in the bearing seat (5) for the support of a shaft. In the method according to the present inventio n the bearing cover (4) is separated from the molded part (2) along a separa ting surface (8). According to the invention a masking agent (M) is disposed perpendicular to a separating line (10) at the bearing seat surface (7) dur ing a coating process for applying the bearing coating (6) for forming a coa ting-free region such that a recess (9) at a predetermined width (B) is crea ted in the bearing coating (6). For this purpose, the masking agent (M) is c onfigured as an element separated from the bearing component (1), and not co nnected to the same. The invention further relates to a device for carrying out an efficient and cost-effective production process for coated bearing co mponents.
