A medical dressing comprising absorbent polyurethane foam wherein the foam comprises an antimicrobial agent, which can be released from the foam by the action of water. The antimicrobial agent is also used as a control of the resilience of the foam. The antimicrobial agent can be poly(hexamethylene biguanide)hydro chloride, also named PHMB or polyhexanide.
