PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk label printer in which a disk drive mechanism of a slot-in type and a printing mechanism are unified, which is made compact, and which has constitution for performing smoothly transportation of the optical disk. SOLUTION: The disk label printer is provided with an optical disk drive mechanism performing at least one side of write and read of a signal for a loaded optical disk D and a printing mechanism having a thermal head 21 printing a desired image on a label plane LD of the optical disk D, wherein the thermal head 21 and a platen roller are in press-contact so that the optical disk D can be between them on a transportation path only when the optical disk D is transported during driving of the printing mechanism, and they are retracted from the transportation path when the optical disk D is transported during time except driving of the printing mechanism.
